About Us

Independent journalism, published daily and free for everyone

The Daily Digest was launched in 2019 by a team of working journalists who believed there was a better way to report the news. We're not owned by a media conglomerate and we answer to no advertiser — just to our readers and the truth.

Why We Exist

Too much news is built to outrage rather than inform. We set out to do the opposite: reporting that's accurate, fair, and genuinely useful. That means taking the time to get the facts right, giving context to every story, and being transparent about what we know and what we don't.

We publish every day, from quick, reliable updates to long-form investigations that take weeks to report. Everything we produce is free to read, because access to good journalism shouldn't depend on a paywall.

Our Values

  • Accuracy before speed, always
  • Independence from commercial and political pressure
  • Clear corrections when we get something wrong
  • Context and nuance over outrage and headlines
  • Openness with readers about how we report

Our Team

We're a small, dedicated newsroom of reporters, editors, and fact-checkers who share a passion for storytelling. Many of us come from established newsrooms; all of us believe journalism at its best informs, empowers, and connects communities.
